Charting Neverland is based on the story of Peter Pan by J M Barrie. Wendy Darling has grown up, had children and grand children and has passed away. The story follows her three grandkids: Ash, Ember, and River. While going through Nana Wendy's house Arthur (Wendy's son in law) finds her old journal of her adventures in Neverland and gifts it to Ash as a keepsake. That night, Peter Pan's shadows attacks and begins ripping pages out of the journal. He steals some pages along with Ember and River and goes back to Neverland. Ash, worried about her siblings, travels to Neverland. She meets many interesting people including the tinker fairies, the lost, the sirens, and the time tailor. It is a story of grief and how love carries on even if your loved ones have been lost.
I was one of the production assistants on this show. My jobs included printing, making basic paperwork, and taking line notes. Mostly, I was observing the rest of the team trying to learn as much as possible. My biggest win from this production was just that it happened. This was my first taste of stage management experience and I loved it. On the other hand, my biggest challenge was the size of the cast. We had 86 cast members from age 7 to 22.
