The Tender Land is a coming-of-age opera focusing on Laurie Moss, a young woman dreaming of a life beyond her family farm. On the eve of her high school graduation, she falls in love with Martin, a drifter hired for the harvest, prompting her to consider leaving with him. After her suspicious grandfather banishes the drifters, Martin ultimately leaves alone, leaving a heartbroken but resolute Laurie to break free from her family's expectations and set out on her own path.
As the 2nd ASM on this production I was in charge of costume paperwork and running stage right after starting performances. Getting all of the information for my paperwork was a struggle at times, but I learned a lot. My biggest win was being on a team with two good friends. We worked well together and communication was easy. I was deathly sick during performances though. We used 6 realy hay bales on stage so my allergies were acting up along with catching a cold that made me lose my voice.
